Imagining a Fungal World and answering the Question: Why Mushrooms? Why Now?

Djassi lectures on the the themes of fungi, mycelium, and Blackness as a model for “mycelial behavior” in the ways that it creates and regenerates life in toxic and oppressive environments while simultaneously adapting and syncretizing 'cultures' to create anew again and again. She shares her my research and explorations of mycelium and how it keeps the balance in our ecosystem as a model for human survival and connection. Mycelium maintains the plants, trees and animal balance in an intricate network of communication with every other species, growing, regenerating and connecting them —and us all. Djassi has given lecture- dance immersions at Barnard College, Columbia University, the Caribbean Cultural Center and various women- centered organizations and circles to inspire people to do their own research around the importance of the fungal world towards our collective survival.
